Blaze
(January 1, 1990 - December 17, 2015)
For 22 years you were my best friend and confidant. You taught me how to trust, love, and have hope. You are my heart and left an aching hole in your passing.
I loved helping you grow from a defensive, once abused three year old horse, to the wisest, gentlest soul and wonderful partner in therapeutic horsemanship. You could read me like a book, and I could you. I trusted your instincts even to the end when I didn't want to let you go. You protected me and saved my life in ways no one could understand. You touched many lives in your earthly time. My heart grieves as does your herd left behind without their alpha. I still hear your whinny for breakfast even though you're no longer here. I've smelled you and felt your breath as I pass by your now empty stall in the barn. You may have left this earthly life, but you will forever live in my heart. I love you, Blaze, and no horse could ever fill your hoof prints. Run free, Old Man, and wait for me to ride again. Hillary (a.k.a. "Your girl")" |
